Output of proximity switches
DC version of proximity switches use PNP or NPN transistor outputs.
Analog output is also available.
Both types (PNP and NPN) are also available in open collector version (the request shal be stated in the order).
Proximity switches for AC voltage use thyristor output.
Switching functions of proximity switches
Normally open ( NO ). When there is no target near active sensing surface the output is opened.
Normally closed ( NC ). When there is no target near active sensing surface the output is closed.
Complementary output ( NO + NC ). When there is no target near active sensing surface the output 1 is non conducting (NO), and the output 2 is conducting (NC).
Supply voltage
The supply voltage must not exceed minimum or maximum value of ripple by 10% of DC voltage.
Installation of embeddable sensors
Due to correct operation of the embeddable sensor, when installed, the following should be observed:

Installation of nonembeddable sensors
When instaling NONEMBEDDABLE sensors the following ratio should be observed:

Sensing characteristics
When the target is approaching and removing, there is a difference between switch on and switch off point, which is defined as commutating hysteresis.
Sn – Operating distance is the distance between the standard target and the active surface of the proximity switch, does not take into account manufacturing tolerances, tolerance of supply voltage, tolerance of operating temperature.
Sr – Effective operating distance Sr is the switching distance of an individual proximity switch as measured under specified temperature and voltage conditions (0,9
Su – Useful switching distance Su is the switching distance of a proximity switch under specified temperature and voltage conditions (0,81
Sa – Assured operating distance Sa is a switching distance for which an operation of the switch within permissible operating conditions is guaranteed(0
Correction factor
The operating distance for inductive switches is given for a standard target made of St 37, but when it is of alternative materials, the operating distance is reduced by the reduction factor Rr;
Tipically reduction / correction factors for inductive sensors:
| St = 1 | Brass = 0,55 | Aluminium = 0,2 | Copper = 0,4 |
Short circuits protection
Most of switches is protected against short circuit at the output.
Minimum current
This is the minimum current loading the switch at the output for correct operation.
Voltage drop
This indicates the voltage drop across the conducting output of the switch
Maximal current
This is maximum permissible current permanently loading the output of the switch.
Operational temperature range
Operational temperature range is between -25°C and +70°C for standard sensors and between -25°C and +125°C for sensors with extended temperature range.
Reverse polarity protection
The switches is protected against reversed polarity of supply voltage connection.
Mechanical protection
IP65 protection against dust and a jet of water.
IP67 protections against dust and water under the pressure (1m) for 30min.
Standards
EU regulation is applied when designing, manufacturing and testing the proximity switches.
Switch equipment
Sensors are equippped with power supply cord unless they are designed for plug connecting.
Connectors and precabled connectors are also available for sensors having a plug.
